so well. I have to say after trying to get a little home made soap business off the ground about 18mths ago with lots of hurdles, I let it go....... then a couple of weeks ago I thought it might just be time to have another crack ...... but I seem to be getting various road blocks ...... ones I shouldn't be getting....... I'm guessing that it's God telling me that now is not the time! And seriously, well, He is probably right. I've found from past experience it pays to listen and take on board what I hear, so rather than getting my fingers in a twist with business paperwork, printing, websites, sourcing of containers, and getting ample supplies, marketing and bla bla bla................ I've decided to stop, take a breath, and get back to doing what we started here....... working on turning my homelife (you know, those days that you don't have to head out to work), back to the simple things ........ like craftwork for the home, family and friends

We finally got the garden in... well Memorial Day (last Monday in May) is our traditional planting day, but I usually have peas and beans started by then. I did not get those in before Memorial Day this year. Someone told me that it actually is just as early since Mem. Day came earlier this year, but it didn't make me feel any better. I could have planted that stuff a month ago. We haven't had any frost in quite some time. We also were not able to plant as much as usual, but this year plan to put the squash in old tires on the hill above the garden. The squash usually roam wherever they please and will often kill off other plants that we need. Last year is was the beans and cukes that suffered. I'm happy to have the garden tilled and planted and growing well. The squash are already started and will get planted this weekend if the weather cooperates. Now we are relying on God and continued weeding to have a good harvest. I love counted cross-stitch, but in the summer it's just WAY too busy for that. I'll get back to my project after the harvest is all put up and the snow is flying again. I'm happy to be outside after an extremely hard and long winter.

I have all these ideas for a simple life at home but guess it's just not my time yet ... so I'll just have to keep trying to balance the work/life thingy a bit longer and craft when I can :o)
Look at the fun, useful things you're doing!! I rather envy your garden and chickens :) They're beautiful. AND ... you finished a stripey afghan!! It looks fabulous. Well done! I loved making mine and have enjoyed it on the back of my living room couch. Don't worry about the soap thing -- it will happen at the right time. I "developed" my very little soap-making business in little baby steps, really slowly over the past 4-5 years. It started as an interest, then a hobby, and only later into anything that made any money :)
